[Korea] Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

A cultural complex located in Dongdaemun where you can see the most attractive night view of Seoul

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), which means Dream, Design, and Play, is a complex cultural space located in Dongdaemun, Seoul. Since its opening on March 21, 2014, it has held big exhibitions, fashion shows, new product presentations, forums and conferences. It was divided into a notification center, a learning center, a living site, a DDP design museum, a design marketplace, Eoulim Square, and Dongdaemun History and Culture Park. The notification center held Seoul Fashion Week, MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards), Van Cleef Appel Exhibition, and BMW's new car presentation, and was equipped with an international conference hall, a multi-purpose banquet space. From the learning center where BTS theme exhibitions and the Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale were held, to the civic lounge "D-Forest," which opened in 2019 under the theme of where anyone becomes a designer, and the DDP Design Store, which introduces DDP-related souvenirs, it stimulates visitors' interest with its interior. The design market, which houses restaurants, bakeries, and cafes, is also a walking course that will satisfy families and lovers who expect to recharge their emotions.

Don't miss it

There is a reason why night view photos of Dongdaemun Design Plaza are flooded on social media. Architect Zaha Hadid designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza and said, "We have created a space where natural and artificial objects are seamlessly connected with curves, curved surfaces, diagonal and slopes, paying attention to Dongdaemun's constantly changing dynamics from early morning to night." A good place to take pictures of the night view is the access road to Eoulim Square, where you can capture the atmosphere created by the grandeur of the interior and the mysterious material of the building. In front of the door of the Salimteo, which divides the notification center and the learning center, the brilliant curves and lighting inside and outside peak.
