directions
JR and Kintetsu train lines run from Nagoya City, Kyoto City, and Osaka City to Iga City, the central city west of Mie Prefecture.

Take JR from Osaka City, Kyoto City, and Nagoya City to Igaeno Station, or take the Kintetsu Line from Nagoya City and Osaka City Namba to Iga-Gambe Station. Take the train from these two places and go to Ueno City Station in the city center of Iga City.

If you depart from Osaka City, Kyoto City, or Nagoya City, it will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours in total.

the place where ninjas strolled
This quiet inland area of Mie Prefecture is home to the famous Japanese ninja, where small towns and farmland are located in the mountains. This is where Lee Ga-ryu founded the secret martial arts. Ninja has been based in the Iga area for hundreds of years and has traveled around the country to conduct espionage and assassinations for samurai warlords.

Those days have passed a long time ago, but ninja's secret art of art still lives to this day. If you want to enter the Ninja Road, explore the deep forests of western Mie Prefecture, where the Ninja is based.

This is a good starting point to learn about shadow warriors and their history. At the Iga Ryu Ninja Museum, you can explore ninja houses like a maze. Here, you can appreciate the skills presented by the master of art and see if you are qualified to succeed as a ninja by throwing a sharp ninja citation.

After looking around the museum, visit Igaeno Castle next to it. This is where the feudal lord ruled the Iga area and gave orders to the ninja. If you rent a ninja costume and pose and take a picture as if you are undercover, you can create a better atmosphere.

If you go further into the quiet mountain in the south, you will find Akame 48 Falls. You can experience the ninja training course right where the ninja honed their martial arts.

After the training, enjoy Akame's wonderful waterfall. If you follow the river, you may find a rare Japanese king salamander. If you haven't met a salamander in the waterfall, you can definitely see it at the Japanese Salamander Center, not far from the entrance to the waterfall.

Perfect rest for novice warriors
Yunoyama Onsen is a hot spring resort where you can stay in a ryokan or stop by for a while and relax with a comfortable bath. If you take a ropeway to the top of Gojai Sho Mountain, you can enjoy skiing and mountain climbing as well as beautiful scenery.
