If you come to Aomori from Tokyo, you can take JR Tohoku Shinkansen, regular JR trains, express buses, and cars. There are a total of four Shinkansen stations in the prefecture, including Hachinohe, Shichinohetowada, Shin-Aomori, and Okutsugaru Imabetsu. If you come by air, you can use Misawa Airport and Aomori Airport.
Visitors who do not fly to Aomori usually depart from Tokyo. If you take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen, you can reach the main city of Aomori in about three hours, and you can use the Japan Rail Pass. If you use a plane, it takes a little more than an hour from Haneda Airport to either of the two Aomori Airport. It takes about 90 minutes from Osaka. Express buses between Tokyo and Aomori run regularly. It takes about 8 to 10 hours, and you can usually use it at night. International flights from East Asian countries arrive at Aomori Airport, and domestic flights connect Aomori to Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka, Kobe and Nagoya.
